The Insider Gaming Showcase held on May 28, 2026, brought a large number of new trailers, gameplay showcases, and announcements of smaller but potentially very interesting games. In the first part of our review, we highlight titles that stood out for their concept, style, or some fresh idea, from a roguelite shooter with dolls and social deduction with cats to an afrofuturistic RPG and a game about a criminal empire inspired by Pablo Escobar.
Toypunk
Toypunk is a comedic third-person shooter roguelite from Eighth Lantern Studios. Players control customizable dolls and fight against hordes of cotton-made enemies, with an emphasis on chaotic action, physics, and absurd toy-inspired weapons. The game can be played solo or in co-op, and each run brings new combinations of weapons, synergies, and upgrade possibilities. The doll customization system, which allows for the assembly of different body parts, particularly stands out, giving the game an extra dose of humor and personality.
Hounded
Hounded is an adventure game where you take on the role of Duke, a border collie trying to find his owner in a dark world inspired by the British Isles. The game combines an emotional story of loyalty, loss, and hope with exploration, jumping, climbing, and using canine senses. Supernatural dog abilities and tense encounters with hunters have also been announced. The project comes from IMPRNT Studios, and after a successful Kickstarter campaign, the game has secured a publisher, Silver Lining Interactive.
AZUR
AZUR is an upcoming PvP survivor FPS from KADES Studio, announced for Steam in 2027. The action is set on the fictional Mediterranean island of Belmas, and the game is described as a fast-paced shooter that eliminates anything that slows down the action from the survival genre. This means no classic crafting, complicated inventory management, or routine processes, but rather an emphasis on movement, combat, looting, and surviving as long as possible. The creators cite inspirations like The Last of Us and Far Cry, but in a much faster and more aggressive form.
Cubex
Cubex is a multiplayer survival horror for up to four players, clearly inspired by the cult film Cube. Players wake up inside a massive cube made up of interconnected rooms, and the goal is to solve puzzles and survive long enough to find an exit. The problem is that the structure of the cube itself constantly changes and rotates, opening new paths and closing old ones. The game relies on a claustrophobic atmosphere, tension among players, and a lurking threat in the dark that reacts to the sounds you make.
Meowstery Wisp
Meowstery Wisp is a 2D multiplayer social deduction game with cats, a detective atmosphere, and unusual rituals. Early access is planned for June 2026, and a new gameplay showcase introduced several important systems. The game will not have early player elimination, meaning all participants remain important until the final ritual. Matches take place over a cycle of five rounds, with a real-time investigation phase, an analysis phase, and a final ritual phase. Players receive hidden roles, with detectives searching for artifacts, a spy attempting to sabotage the process, and an occultist manipulating the ritual for their own victory.
Unyverse
Unyverse is an afrofuturistic science fiction RPG from Afrime Studios, announced for 2027. Players create their own character and enter a universe where African cultures have shaped the stars. At the center of the game is D’zola, a warrior with special abilities, where combat doesn't always have to be exclusively violent. The trailer highlights a strong visual identity, dynamic effects, striking enemies, and a kinetic movement system that should keep the game's pace fluid. It is one of the visually more interesting projects presented at the showcase.
Alea
Alea is a multiplayer hero shooter developed by a single developer. The game is set in a stylized Greco-Roman world, with a more relaxed soundtrack and a focus on fast-paced PvP matches. Players choose characters with two different combat stances, or two forms that change their set of abilities, allowing for quick transitions from defense to attack during combat. 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 arena modes have been announced, along with MMR matchmaking and a single-player hub between matches, featuring additional mini-games and relaxation space.
Becoming Pablo
Becoming Pablo is a strategy and management game inspired by the criminal rise of Pablo Escobar. Players build their own cartel, expand influence, forge alliances, use extortion and bribery, and fight for territory and resources. The gameplay combines grand strategy elements, turn-based combat reminiscent of Risk, tycoon-style management of production and distribution, and base defense against rival cartels and the police. This is a game that clearly targets an audience interested in criminal empires, political underground, and managing a dangerous business chain.
RollerGirl
RollerGirl is an adventure game where you explore a small town on roller skates, with a strong emphasis on the atmosphere of the early 2000s. Players will shape their own experience through music, mood, environment, dialogue choices, and skating style. The main character, Naomi, uses an MP3 player, and the music alters the experience of the world and sets the tone for exploration. There is currently no confirmed release date, but RollerGirl appears to be a calmer, nostalgic, and stylistically clear adventure for players who enjoy cozy exploration, musical identity, and coming-of-age stories.
