Pearl Abyss has confirmed its participation at Gamescom 2026 and announced a partnership with Samsung, through which it will present the action-adventure open-world title Crimson Desert to visitors via an interactive exhibition space and a series of developer talks. The fair will take place from August 26 to 30 at Koelnmesse, and Pearl Abyss's booth is located in hall 09.1, at position B020–C029.
At the booth, players will be able to try out Crimson Desert on the latest Samsung monitors, including the 32-inch Odyssey G8 — the first 6K gaming monitor with Dual Mode option that allows operation in 6K at 165 Hz or 3K at 330 Hz. Visitors can expect hands-on sessions, live stage presentations, exclusive goodie giveaways, photo-opportunity spots, and performances by cosplayers inspired by the game world.
Pearl Abyss will also participate in Gamescom dev, the largest European conference for game developers, which takes place from August 23 to 25. There, it will hold two technical talks focused on the artistic and engineering innovations behind Crimson Desert:
"How We Filled the Vast Continent of Pywel" — about the world-building methodology, the process of creating environments, automated pipelines, and balancing vegetation density, terrain complexity, and storytelling through the environment.
"Scaling Open World Creation in Crimson Desert with an In-House Engine" — about the BlackSpace Engine, procedural tools for terrain generation, biome-based placement systems, and solutions that enable a large open world while preserving artistic control and regional identity.
The talks will be led by Geun-tae Ahn (Senior Leader, Art Level Division) and Jin-hwan Kim and Jin-ho Yoon (Senior Leaders, Game Engine Graphics Division). The lectures are aimed at environment artists, rendering programmers, and technical artists and will provide practical insights into the production processes and technologies used in game development.
Crimson Desert has sold over 6 million copies in its first three months after launching in March, marking a significant success for Pearl Abyss. The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Apple Mac platform.
