The development team ACQUIRE and Square Enix have announced that the pixel-art JRPG titles Octopath Traveller I and II will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. Both games are available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop, while they will arrive in the West on October 1st in digital and physical form (game-key cards) at a price of $60, and there will also be a special package with both games that will be digital only.
Octopath Traveller originally launched on June 13, 2018, on Nintendo Switch, June 7, 2019, on PC (Steam), Google Stadia on April 28, 2020, then came again to PC (Microsoft Store) and XBOX One on March 25, 2021, and finally on PlayStation 4 and 5 on June 5, 2024. Octopath Traveller II first appeared on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2024, and XBOX Series X/S, XBOX One, and PC (Microsoft Store) on June 5, 2024.
Both Nintendo Switch 2 versions come with improved resolution and frame rate and will not have the ability to transfer saved positions from the first Switch.
The first game followed eight characters with different destinies and goals, while the second also followed eight new characters in the world of Solistia.
