The new Modern Warfare brings a campaign set around a major conflict on the Korean Peninsula, the return of Captain Price, multiplayer with new movement systems, and a DMZ gameplay mode.

Activision and Infinity Ward have officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a new major release in the popular FPS series set to launch on October 23, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The new campaign takes players to the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea launches an invasion that threatens to destabilize the entire world. At the heart of the story is a young South Korean soldier named Park, who, along with his unit, must navigate the chaos of the front lines, while Captain Price is on a personal mission of revenge outside the official system in the second part of the story.

Modern Warfare 4 features a variety of locations and scenarios, from trench warfare in Korea and close-quarters combat in New York to chases through Paris, nighttime SAS operations in Mumbai, and large urban battles to liberate occupied areas.

Multiplayer will focus on more precise shooting, smoother movement, and a greater emphasis on weapon control. Infinity Ward announces the removal of bloom, reworked recoil, and more advanced weapon behavior, while maps will include 12 core multiplayer arenas, special Gunfight maps, and larger Big War locations with vehicles.

DMZ is also returning, this time as a full-fledged extraction experience where players enter behind enemy lines alone or in teams, gather equipment, select targets, and try to extract before the situation spirals out of control.

Pre-orders are already open for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, while details about the Nintendo Switch 2 version will be announced later this summer. The PC version will be released via Steam, Microsoft Store, and Battle.net.
