Frontier Developments has released the first episode of the new Feature Focus series for Planet Zoo 2, and the beginning is dedicated to animals and their behavior. The video titled Planet Zoo 2 | Feature Focus - Awe-inspiring Animals focuses on West African lions, their unique habits, needs, and reactions to the conditions in which they live. Through the lioness Zuri and the male Tao, it is shown how players will need to observe animals more closely, as their behavior will no longer be just a decorative detail, but an important indicator of their well-being.
The most important new feature showcased in the video is the new emotion system. Animals in Planet Zoo 2 will display dynamic behavior depending on their current mood, habitat quality, and overall welfare level. If they lack sufficient enrichment, food, or fresh water, they may become lethargic and less active. On the other hand, well-cared-for animals should exhibit a wider range of natural behaviors, which could add an extra dose of realism to the entire experience. Planet Zoo 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The Standard Edition will have a recommended price of £39.99, $49.99, and €49.99, while the Deluxe Edition will cost £54.99, $64.99, and €64.99.
