A first detailed look at the action that this autumn brings back one of the most famous dinosaur hunters.

The publisher Saber Interactive has released a new gameplay trailer for Turok: Origins, providing the most detailed look yet at the return of one of the most famous action franchises from the Nintendo 64 era.

The trailer showcases fast-paced third-person action, spectacular battles against dinosaurs and alien foes, and a variety of locations that players will explore during the campaign.

In Turok: Origins, players take on the role of the legendary warrior Turok, whose mission is to stop a mysterious alien threat that seeks to exterminate humanity. The adventure can be played solo or cooperatively with friends. Combat will combine firearms, melee attacks, and special abilities, with developers promising conflicts against a diverse range of enemies, from smaller dinosaurs to massive bosses that will inhabit jungles, swamps, caves, and ancient temples.

One of the main new features will be the DNA collection system. After defeating enemies, players will be able to extract their genetic material to upgrade their suit and unlock new abilities that will change both the combat style and the visual appearance of the character. A wide arsenal of futuristic weapons will be available, including plasma rifles, laser pistols, sniper rifles, shotguns, and bows, with almost every weapon able to be further upgraded during the game.

The story will take players to several different planets filled with ancient ruins, canyons, dense jungles, and other dangerous locations, with exploration being just as important as combat itself.

Although the new Turok significantly differs from the classic FPS titles that made the series famous, the new gameplay shows that Saber Interactive aims to take the franchise in a more modern direction without sacrificing its hallmark – battling dinosaurs. Whether the change in perspective and greater emphasis on cooperative play will be a hit remains to be seen this fall when Turok: Origins arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
