The Polish studio Byte Barrel, known for the Forgive Me Father series, has officially announced its new project DIOXIDE. The game was presented during The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2026, and is currently in development for PC. The game's page is available on Steam, where players can add it to their wishlist.
DIOXIDE is a tactical first-person shooter with soulslike elements, set in a dystopian world destroyed by industrial decay and under the complete control of the ruthless Corporation. In this world, people have been reduced to disposable goods and interchangeable parts of a vast system that never stops. The main character comes into possession of the Core-ID administrator module, which allows him to return from the dead, but at the same time turns him into the main target of the regime.
Players will explore a dangerous metropolis under corporate rule, from smoky production zones and toxic undergrounds to heavily guarded upper-class quarters. Each area presents its own threats, but also the resources needed for progress. Opponents are described as neo-ancient hunters mass "printed" to maintain order and eliminate anyone who dares to resist.
