The new Fable will not be released during 2026. Xbox Game Studios and Playground Games have confirmed that the long-awaited fantasy RPG has been delayed to February 2027.
According to a statement from Matt Booty, head of content at Xbox, the game is in good shape, but the decision to delay was made to give Fable a better release window and avoid direct competition with major fall titles. This means Xbox's 2026 year will be without one of its most important planned releases.
Fable is being developed for PC and Xbox Series X/S, and it is also expected to be available through Game Pass. New information and additional gameplay footage are expected to arrive during the Xbox Game Showcase 2026 presentation.
