Clockwork Revolution was once again showcased at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, and inXile Entertainment revealed more details about its steampunk first-person RPG. The game is set in Avalon, a lavish industrial city that appears to be a marvel of progress on the surface, but behind the shine hides violence, poverty, and a system built on manipulating history. At the center of the story is Morgan Vanette, a character that players will be able to shape in appearance, abilities, and decisions.
The main mechanic revolves around the Chronometer, a device that allows time travel to the past and the alteration of key events. These changes will not remain merely cosmetic but will impact Avalon, its inhabitants, and the relationships between characters. Throughout the game, Morgan will be accompanied by Prentice, a flying automaton with its own abilities and skill tree, while the Rotten Row Hooligans, a group of allies whose fates can change due to the player's decisions, will also play an important role.
The new announcement also showcased the Displace ability, which allows certain objects to be moved through space. This opens up possibilities for overcoming obstacles, opening new paths, and using the environment as a weapon in combat. inXile emphasizes that the consequences of decisions will be visible in various ways, from minor changes to significant repercussions that will emerge later in the story.
The main threat will be Lady Ironwood, the ruler of Avalon who also uses time travel to maintain her power. Her agents from the Industrial Secret Service will try to stop Morgan as he uncovers how Avalon has been shaped by rewriting the past. Clockwork Revolution is set to release in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, cloud, and Steam, and will be available through Game Pass from day one.
