EA Sports will bring a completely new international tournament mode to EA Sports FC 26 called “The World’s Game,” which will be released on June 4, 2026, just before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
Although EA does not have official rights to license the official FIFA tournament, the new mode is expected to provide a similar experience to playing in the World Cup. The news was revealed through the latest PlayStation announcement about the Days of Play promotion, where among the information about PlayStation Plus titles, new content for EA FC 26 was briefly introduced. According to available information, the update brings a completely new tournament mode with as many as 48 national teams, which represents a significant jump from the previous 29 available national teams.
Along with the increased number of national teams, players can also expect new authentic stadiums, which should further enhance the sense of realism during the competition. Additionally, internationally themed Manager Live challenges are coming to the game, while Career Mode will receive new international ICON and Hero players.
Leaks related to “The World’s Game” have been circulating in the gaming community for months, but this announcement has finally confirmed many details. It will be particularly interesting to see how EA portrays the national teams and tournament format without an official license for the World Cup.
