Home / News / Almost 40 million people have pre-ordered GTA VI?

Grand Theft Auto VI hasn't even been released yet, and Rockstar Games is potentially already writing new lines in its record book.

According to online reports, the long-awaited game from Rockstar Games has surpassed 39 million pre-orders worldwide, generating over 3 billion dollars in revenue before the game's launch scheduled for November 19, 2026!

Considering that the cost of developing this game was more than 1 billion US dollars, and less than 2 billion US dollars, it can be concluded that Rockstar Games, or the company Take-Two Interactive, can be quite satisfied.

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI will mark the end of one of the longest waits between major games in video game history. The last launched game in this series, Grand Theft Auto V, was released on September 17, 2013, and became one of the best-selling entertainment products ever created. GTA V currently, with 230 million copies sold, is the 2nd best-selling video game of all time, just behind Minecraft, which holds the top spot with over 300 million copies sold.

Since 2013 to today, fans have been eagerly awaiting the next project from Rockstar Games, namely the new installment of the GTA series. The long and unprecedented development cycle has only heightened the excitement, turning GTA 6 into probably the most anticipated video game ever made.

The excitement around GTA 6 became evident as soon as pre-orders began. Reports show that the initial wave of pre-sales was picked up within an hour, indicating huge demand for the game. Additionally, across the internet, we read comments from people stating that they immediately 'bought' the game, many of whom also back this up with video evidence.

The versions currently available are:

  • Standard Edition for $79.99

  • Ultimate Edition for $99.99

The Ultimate Edition includes exclusive vehicles, weapons, clothing, and additional content related to the stories of protagonists Jason and Lucia.
Everyone who pre-orders before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack, while digital buyers will also get a free month of GTA+, which includes some of Rockstar's most famous video games like Red Dead Redemption, Bully, LA Noire, the GTA trilogy, GTA V, and many perks for GTA Online.

GTA VI is actually a return to the beloved Vice City, and Rockstar has subtly suggested that they are aware of the nostalgia that will prevail among many. One of the biggest reasons for the game's popularity is its return to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami. GTA 6 will also feature a larger state of Leonida, inspired by Florida, creating one of the most extensive worlds that developers have ever built. Players will follow Jason and Lucia, the first male-female protagonist duo in the franchise, through a story expected to contain Rockstar's signature blend of crime and action, along with well-known satire.

Few entertainment products have attracted as much attention as Grand Theft Auto VI. The first two trailers for the game garnered over 450 million views online, while discussions about the title dominate social media, gaming forums, and streaming platforms.

Industry experts believe that GTA 6 could become one of the largest entertainment launches of all time, competing with blockbusters and major sporting events in terms of cultural impact.

The game is expected to feature photorealistic graphics, advanced artificial intelligence, realistic physics, and one of the most impressive open-world environments ever created. For many players, GTA 6 represents the next leap forward in gaming technology.

With millions of copies sold before its release date and growing anticipation, Grand Theft Auto VI is already making history. The only question that remains is whether the game's launch will justify the unprecedented hype surrounding it.
