As a reminder, 007 First Light tells the story of young James Bond, played by Patrick Gibson, at the moment he enters the world of espionage after attracting the attention of MI6 during a dangerous situation in Iceland. Bond receives unexpected support from M, played by Priyanga Burford, as she recognizes his ability to remain calm under pressure and trusts his judgment in the field.
However, that trust is soon put to the test. John Greenway, played by Lennie James, is a former 00 agent and a strict instructor of the program, and his disciplined approach to rules clashes with Bond's instinctive and improvisational style. When the return of the rogue agent 009 turns into the first real test of the 00 program, Bond embarks on a journey across the globe, from the quiet Carpathians to the dangerous black market of Aleph and the hideout of the unpredictable Bawme, played by Lenny Kravitz.
007 First Light emphasizes creativity through IO Interactive's Creative Approach gameplay. Players will be able to tackle objectives through stealth, direct action, or a combination of both approaches. Spycraft rewards observing the environment, eavesdropping on important conversations, pickpocketing key items, and uncovering clues that open new paths.
Bond’s Instinct gives players an additional advantage in distracting enemies, extracting from suspicious situations, or focusing more precisely in combat. Q Branch gadgets expand tactical possibilities through hacking, lock-picking, distraction, eliminations, and silent takedowns. When stealth fails, combat becomes fast and fluid, with a mix of close encounters and gunfights, escalating with Bond's measured use of force, all the way to Licence to Kill.
The game will also offer additional value after completing the story through Tactical Simulation, or TacSim, a special gameplay mode set in a secret MI6 facility. TacSim will initially contain the first two missions and will be fully unlocked after completing the game. Players will then be able to replay challenges at different levels, with modifiers, scored missions, and unlockables related to progress, encouraging experimentation, refinement, and different approaches to each situation.
007 First Light will be released on May 27, 2026, for PC and current consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S), while the Nintendo Switch 2 version is expected to launch this summer. The campaign itself will last about 20 hours, which is more than excellent for an action adventure. Just hold on for the next 5 days!
