EA Sports has come under fire after introducing microtransactions for progression in single-player modes in College Football 27.

EA Sports College Football 27 has come under fire from players after it was revealed that microtransactions have been added to the single-player modes Dynasty and Road to Glory.

Players who accessed the game earlier through EA's MVP+ subscription noticed that it is now possible to pay real money to speed up the progression of players or coaches. For example, fully upgrading a coach in Dynasty mode can cost up to $100.

The biggest dissatisfaction was caused by the fact that EA simultaneously removed options to customize the amount of XP earned, which in previous installments allowed for faster progression without additional payment. As a result, many players believe that microtransactions are now the fastest way to progress.

The controversy is further fueled by the fact that EA did not inform players or content creators in advance about the introduction of this change. Although the gameplay received positive reactions, part of the community feels that the new microtransactions are a step too far.
