Techland has announced that it has canceled the development of the PlayStation 4 and XBOX One versions of Dying Light: The Beast. This game was originally intended as additional content for Dying Light 2, but it outgrew the original idea and became a standalone game.
Dying Light: The Beast was announced in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, XBOX One, and Series X/S. The release occurred only for PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X/S in September 2025.

According to the official announcement from X, the team decided to cancel development because they realized during development that the limitations of the consoles posed a barrier to creating what they envisioned. Anyone who pre-ordered their copies for either of these two consoles will be able to get a refund.
