The first adventure of the beloved heroine for the third time

Lara Croft returns to her roots. During last night's State of Playa, an online presentation organized by Sony, a new trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis was shown. This is the second reinterpretation of the original Tomb Raider from 1996, following Tomb Raider: Anniversary from 2007.

Legacy of Atlantis represents a modern take on Lara's first adventure, as the story returns to the quest for the "Scion," an ancient artifact of immense power that will take Lara to incredible locations ranging from Peru to Greek ruins, the deserts of Egypt, and the mysterious island of Atlantis.

Unlike the Survivor trilogy, Legacy of Atlantis refocuses on exploring tombs and solving complex puzzles where you will manipulate the flow of water, redirect light beams, activate pressure plates, and decipher symbols.

One of the biggest novelties is the expanded story. The classic scenario has been enhanced with new connections that link Lara's key adventure to her future. The game will feature new locations, additional narrative segments, and numerous surprises that did not exist in the original. The developer has emphasized multiple times that they want to preserve the atmosphere and spirit of the original game while adapting it for a new generation of players.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, the remake brings completely redesigned locations, advanced lighting effects, detailed character models, and significantly improved environmental physics, and some players will be surprised to learn that the voice of Lara Croft this time is provided by Alix Wilton Regan, an actress known for roles in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect 3, and Cyberpunk 2077.

As for the use of artificial intelligence during development, the developer confirmed that AI tools were used exclusively during the early development phases for idea exploration and temporary content. All such elements were subsequently replaced or refined by human authors to ensure the final product fully reflects the creative vision of the development team.

Interestingly, today's trailer officially confirms earlier rumors that have been circulating in the gaming community over the past few weeks, namely that the game has been postponed to February 12, 2027. The system requirements have also been released, which you can read below this article, and considering that you will only be able to play the game for the first time in early 2027, you have more than enough time to upgrade your computer if necessary.
