Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster is coming out on September 9, 2026, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The game is developed by Dormidin Studio, while Selecta Play is responsible for publishing.
It is a 2D action-adventure with a metroidvania structure and hand-drawn animations. The game is visually and thematically inspired by fantasy films and animated series from the eighties and nineties, with obvious links to classic action and platform games of that era.
Players take on the role of the last Beastmaster and explore the world of Arboree, composed of interconnected areas, ruins, natural landscapes, and locations influenced by dark magic. One of the main mechanics will be the use of animal souls, which allow transformations and open up new possibilities in combat and exploration.
Barbarian Saga: The Beastmaster also includes arena duels inspired by classic arcade fighting games, featuring energy bars and changes in camera angles during conflicts. The progression system relies on collecting ritual items that alter the character's attacks, stamina, and mana.
In addition to the digital release, physical Standard editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch have also been announced.
