Square Enix and Lightspeed Studios have announced that on September 30, 2026, they will shut down the Chinese version of the mobile title Final Fantasy XIV Mobile and that they have canceled the game's release in the West. The game originally launched on iOS and Android devices on June 19, 2025.
"Greetings adventurers! Thank you for your support of Final Fantasy XIV Mobile (Chinese Edition) as always. On the very day of the launch in China, we promised that the adventure was just beginning, and you brought the mobile version of Eorzea to life. Every suggestion, experience, and feature guided us in creating this world. Experienced warriors of light took on the role of mentors and guided new warriors through their first steps. With each day and each battle, the community grew more and more and turned out just as we envisioned. However, we must share the sad news that we have decided to shut down the game. Due to market changes, in agreement with Tencent, we have decided to terminate the licensing contract, and we are truly sorry. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being with us."
