More Fallout is always good news!

Bethesda Game Studios has officially confirmed that Obsidian Entertainment is working on a new project in the Fallout series. This marks the first return of the studio to this post-apocalyptic world since the cult classic Fallout: New Vegas, released back in 2010.

Bethesda has not yet revealed the game's title, setting, platforms, or a tentative release date. It has only been confirmed that the two companies are collaborating again and that more information will be released in the future. The project is separate from Fallout 5, which is currently in pre-production and is envisioned as the long-term next main installment in the series.

An earlier Bloomberg report stated that the development of the new Fallout is expected to be led by Josh Sawyer, the director of Fallout: New Vegas and Pentiment. According to the same source, Obsidian has canceled several projects as part of a restructuring, including the planned sequel to Avowed, while part of the studio will continue to work on content for The Outer Worlds 2 and Grounded 2. Bethesda has not officially confirmed Sawyer's role yet.

Obsidian's Fallout could arrive before Fallout 5, as most of Bethesda's main team is currently focused on the development of The Elder Scrolls VI. However, there is still not enough information to call the project a sequel to New Vegas, no matter how much the internet is already preparing for a return to the Mojave.
