A completely new adventure, old Geralt.

CD Projekt Red has announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt titled Songs of the Past. This completely new adventure will once again put us in the role of Geralt of Rivia and will also serve as an introduction to the story of the upcoming Witcher 4, in which we will play as Ciri.

Along with CDPR, the team Fool's Theory, composed of industry veterans who worked on Wild Hunt, is also working on it. More information about Songs of the Past will be revealed this summer, and the release is planned for 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles. There have been rumors circulating for a while about another expansion being prepared for one of the most acclaimed and best-selling RPG games.

To ensure the best possible gaming experience for the future of Witcher 3 and Songs of the Past, the team had to make minor adjustments regarding system requirements, which will look like this from the next update:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600, Intel Core i5-8400

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB

  • VRAM: 6 GB

  • RAM: 12 GB

  • Storage: 70 GB SSD

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 11

There will also be additional changes including:

  • Windows 11 as the minimum operating system (also applies to Cyberpunk 2077)

  • Discontinuation of HDD support and transition to SSD

  • Abandoning DirectX 11 in favor of DirectX 12

  • Only processors and graphics cards that support Windows 11 will be supported

CD Projekt Red will also hold a live stream tomorrow to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Blood and Wine expansion. In anticipation of this, it was revealed that Witcher 3 has sold 60 million copies since its release in 2015 and has won over 250 Game of the Year awards and a thousand industry awards.
