Home / News / The Video Game History Museum is celebrating its 1st birthday this weekend.

Don Daglow, the superstar of video game development and Emmy winner, is coming to Zagreb.

This weekend, from Friday, May 29 to Sunday, May 31, 2026, the Museum of Video Game History is celebrating its first anniversary, with free guided tours and special gifts for all visitors. A special guest of the celebration will be world-renowned video game author and Emmy award winner, Don Daglow, who will give a lecture at the museum.

In the past 12 months, 40 thousand visitors from around the world have visited Draškovićeva 10, positioning the Museum of Video Game History as an essential point on the cultural and tourist map of Zagreb.

“We have had an exciting year and I thank everyone who has supported us. I am glad that the museum lives through the visitors and their reactions,” emphasized Damir Šlogar, the founder of the museum. “We continue to enrich the exhibits and bring in distinguished guests, so that this space remains a central point for the preservation and interpretation of video games as cultural heritage,” he added.

The museum's previous work has been marked by a series of projects, including the first exhibition on the development of Croatian video games and the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of video game development, the first recipient of which is engineer and professor Branimir Makanec. Membership in international organizations (ICOM, NEMO, EFGAMP) also confirms the institutional significance of the museum, and at the Zagreb Design Week, the museum was awarded for the most beautiful interior.

On the occasion of the first anniversary, the museum is also preparing a special program. From Friday to Sunday, all visitors can expect a gift, a card strategy game inspired by video games, and free guided tours through the permanent exhibition.

On Monday, June 1, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Draškovićeva 10, a lecture will be held by Don Daglow, a legend of the global gaming industry and one of the key figures in the early development of video games, now the director of strategic partnerships at the prestigious American museum The Strong National Museum of Play. An Emmy award winner (2008), a member of the Video Game Hall of Fame (2024), and a laureate of the prestigious Game Developers Choice Lifetime Achievement Award (2026), he is among the most important authors in the history of the industry.
