Take-Two Interactive clearly does not plan to stop at Grand Theft Auto VI. The company behind Rockstar, 2K, and Zynga is preparing a very broad publishing plan in the coming years, while also leaving the door open for new studio acquisitions.
According to current business announcements, Take-Two plans to release 29 new games by fiscal 2029. This number includes sequels to well-known franchises, new releases of existing franchises, sports titles, mobile games, and several completely new projects. In other words, the company wants to maintain a strong pace beyond the major Rockstar release that will mark the next year.
It is also interesting that Take-Two is increasingly looking towards new acquisitions. CEO Strauss Zelnick states that organic growth remains a priority, but future acquisitions, especially in the mobile segment, are already on the horizon.
This is not a coincidence. After the acquisition of Zynga, mobile games have become one of the most important parts of Take-Two's business. The mobile segment accounted for about 49% of the company's net bookings in the recent quarter, which practically means that almost half of the business comes from mobile games.
Take-Two is thus entering a period where classic big games, sports franchises, and mobile titles will together drive the company's business. GTA VI will certainly be the biggest event, but the numbers clearly show that Take-Two no longer relies solely on one platform or one revenue model.
