Grand Theft Auto 6 currently has an official release date of November 19, 2026, but it seems that Rockstar's long-awaited sequel was at one point planned for a significantly earlier arrival.
Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, stated that GTA 6 is now about 18 months behind the original plan. Given the current release date, this statement suggests that the internal plan once revolved around spring 2025.
The game was initially announced for 2025, then pushed to May 26, 2026, and then to November 2026.
Rockstar clearly does not want to risk an early release, which is not surprising when it comes to one of the most anticipated titles in the history of the industry.
