Square Enix recently announced that it will increase the number of titles that will be released simultaneously on multiple platforms, which will now make the games available on both Xbox and PC, in addition to the traditionally exclusive PlayStation. Naoki Yoshida, CEO of Square Enix, confirmed the decision while discussing the new JRPG title, FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. This change in strategy comes after financial statements showed that PlayStation sales were not enough to cover development costs.

Yoshida stated that the team decided to move towards a broader distribution model to allow more players access to the games, including Xbox and PC fans. Due out in December 2024, FANTASIAN Neo Dimension will be one of the first titles to be released simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo.

Square Enix hopes the move will help offset high development costs, allowing popular titles such as the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series to be made available across platforms, potentially attracting a wider audience and boosting sales numbers.
