Square Enix has come with full hands.

Square Enix celebrated the 40th anniversary of the JRPG series Dragon Quest and brought a series of announcements about the future; below we bring you all the most important details.

Dragon Quest The Withered World

Dragon Quest The Withered World will be a new title for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC, and the exact release date has not been revealed. Japan will receive this title under the name Dragon Quest Monsters 4.

Dragon Quest XII Beyond Dreams

Square revealed that the eleventh game in the series, which was announced in May 2021, will change its title from Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate to Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams. The original concept has been discarded, and development has started from scratch, with a brief look at the game also revealed.

"We are diligently working on Dragon Quest XII, and due to the team change and the restart of development, it will take some time before it is in your hands. Work on the original version titled Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate encountered obstacles. Through discussions with the creator of Dragon Quest, Mr. Yuji Horii, we discovered what our focus should be to capture the spirit of Dragon Quest, and we decided to start over. It was a big decision, but I believe it was the right one to make it a game for all fans. As part of this new direction, we changed the subtitle and logo." said executive producer Yosuke Saito.

The series creator and designer Yuji Horii added, "This is a story about a young hero troubled by visions from a dream. What lies behind them? Surely not a world of darkness, but light and an exciting future. The game has taken a completely different direction than we originally announced, but I think you will like it."

Saito also commented on the story, saying, "It's a great story, and I wish we could tell you more, but the team would get mad at us, so we'll leave it at that."

Horii concluded with, "All I will add is that Dragon Quest XII, like every title before it, features characters by Akira Toriyama and music by Koichi Sugiyama, and that's all I can say."

The look lasts from 4:31 to 5:50

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition
