Square Enix has announced that it will shut down the free-to-play RPG title Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis on October 6. The game was available on mobile devices and PC. Ever Crisis originally launched on Android and iOS devices on September 7, 2023, followed by the release of the PC version on December 7 of the same year. Square also addressed the players with an official message.
"Thank you for playing Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. This is a message from the management team. Unfortunately, we must inform you that the game will be shut down on October 6. We understand that this will disappoint you, and we sincerely apologize for such a hasty announcement. Since the launch of the App Store and Google Play version on September 7, 2023, and the Steam version on December 6, 2023, we have been working diligently to provide players with the best experience. After careful consideration, we have decided that further development would be difficult, and we have made the decision to shut down."
In the rest of the message, details of the exact shutdown were reiterated, and it was explained what will happen with in-game events and how residents of Taiwan can request a refund for the purchase of red crystals (the in-game paid currency).
