Flipper Devices, a company known for the globally popular device Flipper Zero, has announced the launch of the BUSY Bar, an innovative open-source productivity multitool with a customizable LED pixel display, designed to eliminate distractions and achieve deep focus.

The BUSY Bar combines hardware and software to give users clear control over their work environment. The device can be placed on a desk, mounted on a monitor, wall, or door, and its LED display clearly communicates the user's status, for example, when they are busy and when they will be available again, thereby reducing unwanted interruptions. On the back, there is an additional monochrome display for status overview from the user's perspective.

The central feature of the device is the BUSY Mode, which is activated by pressing a physical button or automatically when starting a call, streaming, recording, or certain applications. By activating this mode, the BUSY Bar displays a customized status, starts a Pomodoro timer, syncs with other devices, mutes notifications, and blocks distracting applications. Additionally, it can trigger smart home automations, such as adjusting lighting or music, creating an optimal work environment.

The device is Matter-certified and compatible with Apple Home, Google Home, and Home Assistant platforms, allowing for easy integration into existing smart systems. Besides focus-related functions, the BUSY Bar can also display various useful information such as the clock, weather forecast, pixel art, social statistics, or live widgets from tools like Notion, Spotify, and Google Calendar.

The BUSY Bar comes with an open API and open-source firmware, with support for HTTP API, MQTT, and official Python and TypeScript libraries, opening up numerous possibilities for developing additional functionalities and integrations. The BUSY App ecosystem is available on iOS, Android, macOS, and watchOS, while a Windows version is expected later this year.

“Today, we are constantly exposed to distractions that make it difficult to concentrate. The BUSY Bar is designed to make focus visible and tangible – with one press, the user enters work mode, devices are muted, and the environment adjusts for work,” said Pavel Zhovner, co-founder and CEO of Flipper Devices.

Sales and shipping will begin on July 14, with the first 3,000 devices available at a price of $199, while the standard price will be $249. The BUSY Bar will be available in the markets of the USA, European Union, United Kingdom, and Canada, with expansion to additional markets expected soon.
