Capcom unveiled three major announcements during the Summer Game Fest 2026: Resident Evil Veronica, the expansion Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and the fourth year of additional content for Street Fighter 6. The Japanese publisher took the stage to announce a new survival horror, the first major expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, and the unexpected appearance of Tifa from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series in Street Fighter 6.
The biggest surprise of the evening was Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the cult classic Resident Evil Code: Veronica. The game is set to be released in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Once again, Claire Redfield takes the lead role as she finds herself in the midst of a desperate escape from the isolated Rockfort Island, filled with zombies, horrors, and madness.
Capcom states that Resident Evil Veronica is being developed in RE Engine, the same internal engine that has powered the modern installments and remakes of the Resident Evil series in recent years. The new version will bring modernized gameplay, a more realistic atmosphere, and a fresh approach to one of the more significant, yet long-neglected chapters in Resident Evil history.
The second major announcement was Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a massive expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds. The expansion is set to release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, continuing the story of the Forbidden Lands expedition. This time, hunters will travel to a completely new location among the clouds, with islands in the sky, new and returning monsters, and additional gameplay mechanics.
Ascendance will also introduce Master Rank content, the return of Elder Dragon monsters, and new explosive abilities that are expected to further enhance combat. Monster Hunter Wilds is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and the base game is currently on sale.
Capcom also introduced Year 4 content for Street Fighter 6. The fourth year brings four new fighters: Yasmine, Arjuna, Tifa, and Bosch. The most attention was drawn by Tifa from the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake series, who will arrive in Street Fighter 6 in early 2027. Tifa utilizes Zangan-ryu martial arts, relies on close combat, and combines classic strikes with special abilities.
The first new fighter will be Yasmine, a high school girl from the Philippines arriving on August 3, 2026. Although she appears shy and gentle, she uses a karambit in battle and the speed she learned from her grandfather. Arjun will arrive in autumn 2026, and he is an Indian police officer on the run, accused of murdering a colleague. His style combines breathing, endurance, and Bare-knuckle Yoga techniques. Bosch, known from the World Tour mode, will come in spring 2027.
Year 4 Character Pass and Ultimate Pass are available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, while they are available for pre-order on Nintendo Switch 2. The Character Pass includes all four fighters, additional colors for Outfit 1, and 3,000 Drive Tickets, while the Ultimate Pass adds Outfit 2, Outfit 3, and an additional 2,800 Drive Tickets.
