Happinet and Studio Lights have released a new trailer and a series of screenshots for Mononoke No Kuni, an action RPG that will be released this autumn for PC via Steam. The game was showcased during the BitSummit PUNCH event, which takes place from May 22 to 24, 2026, in Kyoto, where visitors can also play a new demo version.
The demo brings significant improvements over the version shown at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, including a new free camera, revamped environments, additional exploration and progression systems, and mini-games featuring the player's Shiba Inu companion.
Mononoke No Kuni takes players on an emotional journey through a world inspired by Japanese folklore. The protagonist Taiki is trying to save his lost companion Musashi, and along the way, he encounters various mononoke beings, purifies lost souls, and engages in battles against dangerous yokai foes.
The combat is based on an accessible parrying system, deflecting enemy attacks and projectiles, and utilizing Musashi's divine powers for healing and enhancements during battles. Players will be able to develop new abilities, explore picturesque regions of the Mononoke world, and connect with unusual inhabitants like Nekomate, Game, Komija, and Mujine.
Mononoke No Kuni currently has a playtest available, while the full release on Steam is expected in autumn 2026.
