Team17 and The Breach Studios have joined forces to release the game Westlanders, an open-world survival adventure set in the dangerous Wild West of the 19th century. The game is currently in development for PC and is expected to arrive in Steam Early Access in early 2027. Console versions are planned for later, alongside the release of version 1.0.
Westlanders combines survival, crafting, building, resource management, and settlement development. Players start as ordinary survivors in a hostile world, but over time they can build a network of settlements and turn the wilderness into a functional economic system. A crucial role will be played by a wagon that serves as an adaptable mobile base, which helps explore unknown areas, gather resources, and avoid dangers such as bandits, wild animals, and harsh environmental conditions.
The game will offer exploration of a vast open world, finding hidden locations, and encounters with unique characters. As they progress, players will craft tools, unlock new equipment and buildings through a technology tree, engage in farming, livestock raising, and mining, and automate production processes using workers and research.
Team17's General Manager Harley Homewood stated that Westlanders attracted them with its approach to the survival-crafting genre, while Ferran Punti, director of The Breach Studios, emphasized that Team17 is the ideal publishing partner to realize their open-world vision.
Westlanders currently does not have a specific release date, but it has been confirmed that it will arrive on PC through Steam Early Access in early 2027.
