Ubisoft is reportedly working on a remake of the first Assassin's Creed.

According to unofficial information, the next remake could be the original Assassin’s Creed featuring Altaïr in the lead role.

The information comes from an insider known as xj0nathan, who claims that their source told them back in 2023 that Ubisoft, alongside the remake of Black Flag, is also developing a new version of the first Assassin’s Creed.

Ubisoft has not officially confirmed the project yet, but the idea itself is not particularly surprising. CEO Yves Guillemot announced back in 2024 that the company is working on remakes of older Assassin’s Creed games. He explained that Ubisoft wants to revisit and modernize some of the rich worlds from the series' past, without revealing which installments have been selected.

Although the first installment had a striking atmosphere and an interesting historical setting, its structure feels quite outdated today. A complete remake would therefore allow Ubisoft to expand the cities, modernize combat and parkour, and introduce more diverse ways to explore targets.

The potential release timing is also interesting. The original game will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2027, which would make a presentation or launch of the remake at that time sensible. However, there is currently no information about the release date, platforms, development studio, or how far the new version would deviate from the original.

Until an official announcement from Ubisoft, the whole story should be taken with a grain of caution. However, after earlier rumors about the remake of Black Flag turned out to be true, the possibility of Altaïr's return no longer sounds like a mere wish from fans.
