This unusual blend of visual novel, relaxed donut shop management, and dating simulator puts the story, characters, and atmosphere in the foreground, making it most suitable for players who enjoy a slower pace and well-told stories.
In High Times, you take on the role of the owner of a small donut shop that slowly becomes a safe place for various interesting characters and their life stories. Your main task is to run the pastry shop, prepare different types of donuts, experiment with recipes, and take care of your guests' satisfaction. You create donuts by combining different flavors and toppings, and with the right choices, you can improve your clients' mood and achieve better results.
The largest part of the game is dedicated to getting to know the characters, having conversations, and developing relationships with them. Through numerous dialogues and decisions, you gradually uncover their personal stories, problems, and motives, while your choices can affect the course of events and the endings of individual stories.
As you progress through the game, you unlock new recipes, improve your shop, and meet more and more different visitors. The combination of relaxed management, visual novel, and decision-making makes High Times an experience that emphasizes story and atmosphere more than challenging mechanics.
The game's biggest asset is undoubtedly the excellently written narration and convincing characters. Their stories easily draw you into the action, while the excellent soundtrack further enhances the atmosphere throughout the gameplay.
