Iz Xbox have announced that after a long 16 years turn off the ability to create an avatar after January 9, 2025 year. All avatars that are created on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC will be deleted, while those created on Xbox 360 to live on.
As a reason from Microsoft have said that players no longer pay attention to avatars like they used to. All purchases of cosmetic accessories made by 1/11/2023 to 9/1/2025 will have an automatic refund.
Xbox launched avatars in 2008, and they received a graphical improvement in 2015, they were conceptually inspired Mii avatars from the Nintendo Wii, which are still in use today on Nintendo Switch.
