Horror fans will have to wait a little longer - the announced sci-fi adventure Directive 8020, which was supposed to be the introduction to the new phase of The Dark Pictures anthology, has been officially postponed to 2026. The news was confirmed by the publisher Bandai Namco and the development studio Supermassive Games, who cited as the reason the need for additional time to ensure the quality and atmosphere worthy of the expectations of fans of the series.
Directive 8020 is the first episode of the second season of The Dark Pictures anthology and tells the story of the survival of the crew of a spaceship in an unknown and hostile environment, where paranoia and an invisible threat come to the fore. Although originally slated for a 2025 release, a new development assessment revealed that the game required additional production to finalize technical aspects and improve the narrative structure.
The exact release date has not been revealed yet, but Directive 8020 is expected to be released during 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
