Subnautica 2 has already achieved enormous commercial success in its Early Access phase. Developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced that the game sold over four million copies in the first five days after its release, with the first million reached within the first hour of sales.
The game entered Early Access on May 14, 2026, for Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, and is also available through Game Pass. According to available data, Subnautica 2 continues to top the global Steam sales charts.
As we mentioned earlier, the sequel brings a new alien underwater environment, improved graphics in Unreal Engine 5, and for the first time in the series, an optional cooperative gameplay mode for up to four players.
