Release date revealed!

Frontier Developments has unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Planet Zoo 2 during the PC Gaming Show, providing the first concrete look at the sequel to the popular zoo management simulator. The game is set to release on October 13, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and pre-orders are already open. The standard edition will cost €49.99, while the Deluxe Edition will be available for €64.99.

Planet Zoo 2 brings a significant technological leap compared to its predecessor, featuring more detailed animal models, more authentic behaviors, and expanded zoo management systems. The biggest novelty is the introduction of fully aquatic and flying species, which enter the series for the first time through aquariums and aviaries. Players will be able to build special habitats for animals that live underwater or fly, along with advanced terrain shaping and construction tools.

The new trailer showcased habitat construction and the Scottish Highland Wildlife Reserve, as well as several new animals. Among them are the deer, Maasai giraffe, black-spotted pufferfish, white-tailed eagle, great hornbill, and Eurasian beaver. They join the gray wolf, which was shown a day earlier during Wholesome Direct, as well as previously confirmed species like the Sumatran tiger, leatherback turtle, and toco toucan.

Animal management will be deeper than before, as their behavior will change depending on mood, habitat conditions, and the fulfillment of basic needs. Players will need to pay attention to food, water, space, environmental enrichment, and other elements that affect the well-being of each species. Along with classic park building and management, Planet Zoo 2 places a stronger emphasis on nature conservation and the reintroduction of animals into restored habitats.

Pre-ordering brings the Bonus Content Pack, which includes the Toucan Eat Shop and corresponding signs, three special donation boxes, and the Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game along with the Deluxe Upgrade Pack featuring an additional six animal species from different parts of the world and exclusive decorative signs for the park.
