During the PC Gaming Show 2026, held on June 7th, Vampire: The Masquerade – Eternal Whispers was officially announced, a new narrative RPG set in the iconic World of Darkness universe. The announcement immediately caught the attention of fans due to its distinctly dark atmosphere and strong parallels with the legendary RPG Disco Elysium.
The project is developed by the Canadian studio Flyos, known for the social game Vampire: The Masquerade – Chapters, while the publisher is the British Kwalee.
The story is set in modern Montreal after the fall of the vampire sect Sabbat. Players take on the role of the vampire Gabe, who awakens after decades of sleep with fragmented memories. The search for a runaway ghoul leads him to a mysterious temple and a conspiracy that threatens to change the entire vampire society of the city.
Instead of combat, the game's focus is on conversations, manipulation, exploration, and decision-making. Violence is possible, but through narrative choices rather than action sequences or tactical battles. A special emphasis is placed on a system where failure does not mean the end of the game. Missed clues, poor decisions, or failed negotiations change the course of the story and open new paths instead of the classic "game over" approach.
The game will rely on exploration, eavesdropping on conversations, gathering clues, and connecting information. Every dialogue can hide a new secret or lie.
We immediately noticed similarities with the game Disco Elysium. The isometric view and the emphasis on dialogue and psychological storytelling strongly remind of that well-known RPG, and many fans of World of Darkness believe that this approach is ideal for the Vampire universe.
So far, it has been confirmed that the game will be released on Steam, while versions for PlayStation and Xbox have not yet been announced. However, given the growing popularity of narrative RPGs, it is not excluded that console versions will be presented later. There is currently no official release date.
If it fulfills its promises, Vampire: The Masquerade – Eternal Whispers could become exactly what fans have been longing for years – an RPG that emphasizes intrigue, politics, personal horror, and tough decisions instead of action. The combination of dark gothic aesthetics, exploratory mechanics, and design philosophy popularized by Disco Elysium makes it one of the most interesting RPG titles announced this year.
