Ready for full shine

Iron Gate AB and Coffee Stain Publishing have announced that the sandbox survival title Valheim is ready for release in version 1.0. With the full version come new enemies, bases, and crafting weapons. As always, the game will be released for PC, XBOX One, and Series X/S, and the team has also decided to add PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 versions that will be part of complete crossplay, meaning you will be able to play with other platforms.

Valheim, for those who don't know, is a sandbox survival game developed by a team of five members, and it started its life as a project by Iron Gate AB co-founder Richard Svensson, who wanted to fill his free time somehow. During the early access phase, the game achieved great success with players and critics alike and was praised as an exceptional example of a game that already shows perfect polish at this stage. In just a month after its release, it sold five million copies and was among the most played titles on Steam.

The story's theme revolves around a world where slain Vikings try to prove they are ready to enter Valhalla. One of them is our character, who starts with nothing and soon discovers that the only way to reach the afterlife is to fight against the evil forces found in Valheim. Guided by his instincts and with the help of a raven, he must prepare for battle against Odin's enemies. The term Valheim refers to the tenth world within Yggdrasil (the tree of life in Norse mythology).

The Ashlands update from May 2024 brought Valheim closer to the release of the full version, and at that time, only the Deep North biome remained, which will come as part of version 1.0.

Valheim 1.0 is set to release on September 9, 2026.
