Poppy Playtime: Chapter 5 - Broken Things officially arrives on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on May 27, a few months after the PC release that attracted a large number of players and streamers earlier this year.
The new chapter once again takes players deep inside the Playtime Co. factory, but this time the focus is on an even darker part of the complex hidden within the domain of The Prototype. The story continues directly after the events of the previous chapters, and players will need to solve puzzles, avoid deadly obstacles, and survive encounters with new enemies while being pursued through the factory by Huggy Wuggy.
Chapter 5 also brings new GrabPack abilities that will be used to solve environmental puzzles and navigate through dangerous parts of the factory. Mob Entertainment specifically emphasizes that this is one of the most atmospherically ambitious chapters yet, with a greater focus on horror elements, narrative, and exploring the lore surrounding the Playtime Co. company.
The Poppy Playtime series has grown from an indie horror project into one of the largest viral horror gaming franchises since the release of the first chapter in 2021. According to developer information, the game has been played by over 50 million players worldwide, and the popularity of the series has been further expanded by community theories, social media, and streaming platforms.
In addition to video games, the franchise has expanded in recent years to include merchandise, collaborations with other IPs, and a film project that is in development.
The console version of the game will be released on May 27 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox consoles, and Nintendo Switch.
