After the initial announcement back in December 2023, Sega has finally officially presented Crazy Taxi: World Tour, the new installment of one of its most recognizable arcade series. The game is set to release in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour returns the recognizable taxi racing, picking up passengers, and crazy driving through city streets, but this time in a broader and more modern edition. Players will drive through large open areas, search for the fastest routes, perform dangerous maneuvers, and try to deliver passengers to their destinations before time runs out.
The new installment also brings a story in which Axel returns to the wheel after his car is stolen, and the showcased materials suggest that Sega wants to maintain the arcade energy of the original while adapting it for today's audience. Crazy Taxi: World Tour thus fits into the broader revival of Sega's classic series, including Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Virtua Fighter.
