Wargaming has officially launched the first season of its new free-to-play PvPvE mech shooter Steel Hunters, which is now available in Early Access via Steam and the Wargaming Game Center. This season brings plenty of new content, including a free Battle Pass, a new Hunter named Taurus, and a number of gameplay improvements.
The main star of the first season is Taurus, a new Hunter specialized in close combat. Armed with a devastating Heavy Shotgun and Bull Charge ability, the Taurus is designed for players who prefer an aggressive playstyle. It can be unlocked immediately via the Premium Tier Battle Pass or by reaching level 59 in the Pro Tier, using Platinum – a currency easily earned by completing in-game missions.
The development team introduced a number of improvements based on community feedback:
- Simplified HUD: Reduced screen congestion for better visibility.
- Reduced cost of unique skills: Costs were reduced by 50%, and previously spent credits were returned.
- Faster ammo loading: Especially when players are low on bullets.
- Improved melee combat: Reduced cooldowns and increased attack range for more dynamic fights.
- Heartbreaker class rebalancing: Improvements to Railgun and Sonar Pulse for better team play.
