Wemade Max and Oneway Ticket Studio have released a major update for the PvPvE zombie extraction shooter The Midnight Walkers, which arrives just before the announced free weekend on Steam.

The new update brings a range of content and system improvements based on player feedback since the game's Early Access launch in January. The main addition is Hardcore Mode, a new PvPvE gameplay mode aimed at more experienced players (gear score 1000+ and level 15+), along with increased drop rates for valuable items to match the higher difficulty level.

For new players, a tutorial and Training Ground have been introduced, where they can familiarize themselves with the basics of the game and test equipment without pressure. Additionally, a daily mission system has been added, the crafting system has been completely revamped, as well as numerous balance adjustments to combat and classes, along with design improvements to certain locations.

In conjunction with the update, a Free Weekend event on Steam has been announced, starting on May 8 at 10:00 PT and lasting approximately four days. During this period, players will be able to try all the game content for free, and all progress will be transferred to the full version.

As highlighted by game director Ray Song, the goal of this update was to further enhance the experience for both new and existing players, with an emphasis on accessibility and depth of gameplay.

The development of The Midnight Walkers will continue through active communication with the community, and the full version of the game is expected within the next 12 months.
