After pet uspješnih izdanja konferencije PROFilm Days, Croatia movieska industrija i video game industry ‘blendaju’ se i stvaparadiseu novu platformu za razgovor o aktualnim temama - Blender: Film & Games. Conference će se keep on October 4, 2024 at the University of Algebra, and all panels and workshops are free for anyone interested, with prior registration. The program will take place on two stages and in the workshop premises. With the most relevant Croatian, regional and international speakers, existing problems will be discussed and participants will be informed about new technologies and innovations that have become necessary in this industry worldwide. In the lobby of the University of Algebra, there will be stands with representatives of the University of Education for Audiovisual Professions, and stands of the video game industry that will inform all interested participants about the possibilities of finding a new career in the audiovisual industry.

We are expecting the richest program so far, from which we highlight the following topics:

In a special hall, screenwriting workshops will be held with internationally successful mentors of screenwriters:

Film script workshop, lasting 3.5 hours, will lead Branko Ružić, an international writer born in Split, who today lives and works between London and Singapore. His author works include 14 TV series (Mrkomir, Minus i Plus, Bastange i princesse, Dobre najmere, Ugly Betty and others) and three feature films (My grandfather fell from Mars, It's not all about hunting, The Lost Prince); his theater plays have been translated into 7 languages ​​and he is a multiple award-winning author. He is currently working for Studio Dragon/MBC (South Korea) on the Lee Jin project. As a consultant, he worked on the adaptation of the traditional Chinese story Into the Mortal (Winsing); works on Fremantle Australia projects and Croatian children's feature film Eva & Hm.

Video game scenarios they are far from ordinary text because they are also technical documents that contain hundreds of pages of descriptions of visuals, flow charts, branching dialogues and scenes. He will lead the 3.5-hour hit video game screenplay workshop Siniša Bahun, an academic playwright who has been working intensively for the domestic video game industry for the last ten years. He contributed screenplays to Croatian successes such as SCUM, The Red Solstice, Aquatico, Resetna and many others. He teaches creative writing for the medium of video games at Vern University and the Academy of Dramatic Arts. In addition to the above, he writes screenplays for animated films, some of which, such as 'Ballad of the Flute and the Necklace' (Jaka Produkcija), are among the most awarded achievements in the last few years. He also script-designed interactive and VR installations for the needs of the Geo Info Center Voćin. He is a permanent contributor to HRT's children's program, where he is currently working on several active projects as part of the Juhuhu morning mosaic.

In the third workshop the magic of turning an ordinary 2D illustration or photo into a dynamic 3D space will bring closer the external lecturer of the University of Algebra and associate in the study Development of computer games, multimedia artist Ivan Šivak. Using simple techniques, Šivak will pass on his many years of experience in the field of comics, illustration and animation to the workshop participants and explain how to enrich a static image and create an impressive 3D world. At the end of the process, by adding a camera and animating its trajectory, the workshop participants will create a stunning 3D effect and at the same time bring the aforementioned photo to life.

Famous location managers as guests of the conference

This year, representatives of the conference's partner, the world organization of location managers (LMGI), will participate in the program again, and they are the main actors in the search for filming locations, and therefore know the economic and promotional impact of the film industry. They are coming to the conference Naomi Liston from Great Britain and Klaus Grosse Darrelmann from Germany. This year's guests chose filming locations for some of the biggest movie hits such as Avengers: Endgame, Game of Thrones: The Last Watch, Game of Thrones, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 i Red Sparrow . After the conference, Naomi and Klaus will tour Croatia in search of new locations for filming their future projects.

Westeros and Middle Earth are iconic locations from the series that are known to everyone, and Predrag Šuka, head of the professional undergraduate study of multimedia production, will introduce those interested in the creation of castles from locations in the aforementioned popular series and films - from Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones and to historical locations such as the Republic of Dubrovnik. During the lecture, he will present the process of building a castle for the frame in which the actors move and in which this particular castle takes up most of the space. Through the symbiosis of the existing and the created, various artistic directions, inventing narratives and atmospheres by adding effects, the lecture focuses on post-production and the way of connecting elements in a continuous production process.

On the panel Virtual production: The use of game engines in the production of feature films, series and TV programs will be discussed by Antonio Nuić, Jurica Šimunković, Hrvoje Boljkovac and Armin Konjalić, with moderator Marin Pavelić.

The Film Criticism in the Age of Social Networks panel will certainly be very interesting with Nina Kovačić, Milena Zajović, Josip Jurčić and Marko Stojiljković from Slovenia, moderated by the always fantastic Boško Picula.

They organize the Blender conference Zagreb Film Office i Croatian audiovisual center which is its own project Games Croatia intended for the promotion and further development of the Croatian video game industry at the national, European and world level, all with the aim of developing and growing this rapidly growing sector through promotion at international fairs and conferences. Also, the conference is being held with the support of partners University of Algebra, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the City Office for Culture and Civil Society, TZGZ and with the support of film and gaming associations.
