No, let's get started.
Paralives is a life sim game. Create your Sim, or rather — your Para — with whom you start a family, go to work, live your life, age, and after some time... die. A classic.
The Para creator in the game is extremely detailed. You can create your character however you want, and the multitude of mods that have already been released has taken it to an even higher level. However, the base game itself is incredibly detailed even without any mods.
Building houses? It's never been better. Both The Sims and inZOI can be ashamed of how they have been overshadowed by a team of 14 young developers. The houses can be extremely detailed, creative, and full of character.
The world around you is alive and open, just like in the good old Sims 3 days. You can choose your Para and send them to the city for coffee with someone or to the local forest to gather mushrooms. All of this pulls you into the game before you can say “cookie”.
What might particularly please those who have seen the price list of 2000 euros for all the expansions of Sims 4 is the fact that the team from Paralives has promised that there will never be purchasable DLCs and that all additions will be free.
They promised that by the end of next year we can expect seasons, namely autumn, winter, spring, and summer, as well as pets. All of this for a mere 36 euros.
One negative thing I noticed is the communication between characters. It is somewhat limited. It’s not natural; you can’t decide which direction the conversation will go, but you have to gradually build the relationship, which can take a lot of time.
Now let's move on to technical matters. To run Paralives on maximum settings, you will need a monster of a computer. I personally have an RTX 5080, 32 gigs of RAM, and a new i9 processor, and sometimes my computer gets so hot that I think I have an oven in my office, not a computer. But, that’s to be expected for a game in Early Access.
The developers release updates and fixes every week, and the game gets better day by day.
And finally, can we say that Paralives is a true Sims killer?
Yes and no.
The Sims are still the kings of the life sim genre. The game itself is sad and pitiful without modifications, but 12 years of expansions by 2026 have brought a ton of content that Paralives will find hard to reach anytime soon.
But! If we compare Paralives Early Access and Sims 4 version 1.0, Paralives is a far better game, with many more features right from the start.
Next year, when they add seasons and animals, I think we will officially be able to say that we have a true Sims killer in the gaming industry.
