Bethesda Game Studios is preparing one of the larger updates for Fallout 76, which this year marks its eighth anniversary, and the focus is on the long-requested feature, roaming pets.
The new system will allow previously CAMP pets to no longer be limited to player bases, but to follow players in the open world of Appalachia.
Until now, pets like dogs, cats, and various creatures could only be found in CAMPs, but the new update turns them into full-fledged companions who can travel with players, explore the terrain, and participate in combat.
According to information from Bethesda, pets will also have additional functions, being able to follow the player on the map, fight, sit, stay in place, and even receive basic command orders and a progression system through a skill tree. Various types will be available in the game, from dogs and pigs to cats and even Deathclaws.
The goal of the new system is to further enrich the solo and co-op experience and introduce more dynamics into exploring the open world and fighting against enemies.
