Nintendo is reportedly planning to produce around 20 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles during the fiscal year 2027, as reported by Bloomberg, and relayed by Nintendo Life. This figure is significantly higher than Nintendo's official sales forecast of 16.5 million units delivered for the same period.
According to available information, Nintendo clearly wants to ensure enough stock for the market, especially after a very strong sales start for the console. The Nintendo Switch 2 sold 19.86 million units in its first year, surpassing the previously raised forecast of 19 million units. The company initially expected 15 million consoles sold but later raised the forecast after better-than-expected results.
The new production figure does not necessarily mean that Nintendo officially expects to sell all 20 million units, but it shows that the company is preparing for potential demand greater than the currently published forecast. This is particularly interesting in the context of announced price increases in Japan and Western markets, which could affect the sales pace throughout the year.
A significant role in maintaining sales momentum will also be the game schedule for the second half of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. So far, among the known titles, Splatoon Raiders stands out, while additional announcements are expected through future Nintendo presentations. If Nintendo prepares a strong lineup of first-party releases, the forecast could again prove to be conservative.
