Nintendo Switch 2 is getting one of its bigger exclusives this week. Star Fox is coming out on June 25, 2026, and it is an action space adventure based on the game Lylat Wars for Nintendo 64. Fox McCloud, Peppy Hare, Falco Lombardi, and Slippy Toad are once again taking their seats in the Arwing cockpit to stop Andross and his forces in the Lylat system.
The new version brings a complete visual overhaul, tailored to the power and capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. The game will feature refreshed character designs, more detailed levels, new cinematic animations, fully voiced dialogues, and additional briefings between missions. The goal, according to the announcement, is to retain the spirit of the original while presenting it in a more modern and cinematic form.
In Campaign Mode, players will be able to navigate through missions via different routes, depending on the objectives they complete, the enemies they defeat, and the decisions they make during gameplay. Challenge Mode will allow replaying completed levels with new goals and challenges, while Battle Mode will bring 4-on-4 multiplayer battles between Star Fox and Star Wolf teams, for a total of up to eight players.
Star Fox will also support Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, as well as a new GameChat feature with interactive avatars of characters from the Star Fox universe.
