GungHo Online Entertainment has announced Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet, a new installment in the series that will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in spring 2027. The game was revealed during a Nintendo Direct, and the first demo will be available to visitors at Anime Expo 2026 in Los Angeles.
Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet marks a significant shift for the series. After the original Ninjala garnered over 11 million downloads worldwide, the sequel moves away from the primary PvP framework and transforms into an action open-world game. Players will explore vast natural landscapes, complete quests, conquer dungeons, and battle giant bosses, while retaining the fast-paced Ninja-Gum Action combat system.
The story begins at WNA Academy, where a mysterious stranger prompts the protagonist to break the Forbidden Seal. The entire academy is then transported to an unknown planet, while the Prime Tetrad, a dangerous group from the Xenos Army, is simultaneously unleashed. The protagonist and their allies must find a way back to Earth, while also uncovering their own hidden destiny.
The sequel brings single-player gameplay, as well as local and online co-op for up to four players. Along with the familiar fast action, Ninjala 2 introduces weapon attributes, item crafting, and cooking using gathered materials. New characters appear in the game, as well as familiar faces from the original, including Lucy, Berecca, and Van.
The Uncharted Planet is envisioned as the first part of a larger two-part story, with the continuation of the narrative arc set to be released in the second chapter later on.
