Artificial Extinction 2 is coming out on June 10 on Steam and combines several completely different genres into one experience focused on sci-fi battles against hordes of AI machines.
The game combines RTS strategy, tower defense, and FPS combat, allowing players to switch between a top-down commander view and first-person fighting on the battlefield at any time. The gameplay focus is on defending a futuristic military base while trying to decrypt alien technology before the extraction arrives.
During the game, you build defensive networks, control vehicles and drones, call in artillery strikes, gather resources, and unlock new technologies while AI enemies constantly attack the base in large waves.
The developer particularly emphasizes a cinematic battle approach where defensive lines collapse in the midst of combat, explosions cover the screen, and victories often come literally in the last seconds before the complete destruction of the base.
Artificial Extinction 2 features 10 handcrafted maps with different terrains and tactical challenges, while replayability comes through new enemy patterns, resource layouts, and challenge modifiers. There is also an endless mode and Steam leaderboards.
Especially interesting is the fact that the entire project is backed by a solo developer who has been working on the game for over 5 years.
According to official information, the game will be localized into more than 11 languages and will focus on a combination of strategic planning, tower defense survival, and direct FPS action within the same gameplay loop.
