Paramount Games Studio and PlatinumGames have announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, a new AAA action-adventure based on the popular comic series. The game has been confirmed for PC and consoles, but specific platforms and a release date have not yet been announced.
The Last Ronin follows the last surviving Ninja Turtle on a dangerous quest for revenge. Unlike classic TMNT stories featuring the whole team, this material is known for its darker tone, more personal story, and a significantly more serious approach to the world of the Ninja Turtles.
Interestingly, this is not a sequel to the previously announced version being developed by Black Forest Games and THQ Nordic. That project has since been halted, and Paramount Games Studio decided to move forward with a new version of the game, entrusting development to PlatinumGames, a studio known for action games like Bayonetta, NieR: Automata, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
Along with the announcement, a short teaser trailer was shown, while more details about gameplay and platforms will be released later.
