Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag returns in a modernized edition titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and Ubisoft has revealed more details about what the game brings to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. This is not intended as a regular remaster, but as a technically renewed version of the game built on a newer version of the Anvil engine, while retaining the recognizable spirit of Edward Kenway's original adventure.

On PlayStation, the game will support gameplay options at 60 frames per second, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and DualSense haptic feedback, while PlayStation 5 Pro will receive additional visual enhancements. Among them are expanded ray tracing support in all graphical modes, including global illumination and reflections, as well as support for PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, for a clearer image and better scaling.

Ubisoft particularly highlights a more dynamic Caribbean world, more realistic lighting, advanced ocean rendering, a weather system that affects the environment, and a more detailed representation of character hair. The sea, storms, sails, vegetation, and reflections are expected to appear more natural than in the original.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced releases on July 9 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
